A monolingual class of teenagers ,with the same interests and language background

Assumptions:
Students are good at understanding main idea of listening.
They know past simple and are familiar with past continuous
Anticipated problems:
Students may find it difficult to use past tense and past continuous together.
Solution: give them some grammar guide.
 
Students may find difficulties understanding key wards
Solution: provide support at pre-listening stage by giving them wards about crimes and criminals and practice on them

Students are given a picture of shoplifting and talk to each other what can they see and about the things people steal from the shop
 
 
Students match the wards connected to the crimes with the wards connected to the criminals in two colamns
 
 
Students read the sentences 1-4 and match them to the explanation of their uses in a-d
Then complete the rule:
We make the past continuous with the past simple of -------------+verb + ing.
 
 
Ss listen two teenagers talking about a shoplifting incident and decide if each statement is true or false. Then students compare their works to each other
 
 
Teacher writes Ss answers on the board to check there understanding and provide support
 
 
 
Students fill in the gapped text from their memory than listen and check.
 
 
 
Teacher asks students  some questions to check their understanding and give support
 
 
 
Students are given a picture of supermarket which needs a new security officer. Ss look at the scene for a minute,  then close books and work  with their partner to ask each other what was people doing in the supermarket by using past continuous.
